ELIGIBILITY

The Write On Features, Featured Author Contest is open to to anyone 18 years old and older. Entrants may reside in any country or maintain dual citizenship in multiple countries.

Submissions from writers who are non-subscribers or free/trial members will be rejected.

​

CRITERIA (Qualified Submissions)

• Submissions must be original and unpublished, and may not have been previously published, in part or in whole, as part of any publication in the past in any form or medium (digital, print, audio, or etc.).

• Submissions must not be under contract by any publisher at the time of submission or at any time during consideration.

• All submissions must follow the rules in this document.

• All submissions must be a minimum of 5,000 words and a maximum of 20,000 words in length.

• Submissions should be as "Press Ready" as possible. This means that submissions should have as few writing, spelling, or grammar errors as possible.

• All submissions must be written in English (any dialect is acceptable).

• Submissions, must be the original work of the author making the submission. Any attempts to plagiarize or contract a submission in whole or in part will result in the immediate rejection of the submission and the permanent exclusion of the entrant from participation in any and all promotions, contests or competitions hosted or sponsored by Write On e-Publishing, LLC, any of its associated brands, platforms or partners.

• Submissions must be received by the contest deadline(s) for consideration for contest awards.

CONTEST CATEGORIES

Submissions may be in any category/sub-category or genre of fiction or non-fiction.

Write On Features currently hosts the following categories:

• Contemporary Fiction,

• Fantasy (Contemporary, Traditional, etc.),

• Sci-Fi/Afro-Futurism,

• Romance,

• Adult/Erotica,

• Non-fiction (Business, Self-Help, Personal Development, Etc.)

Submissions may be, but are not limited to any of the above categories, any sub-category or any related niche category and etc.

ENTRY FEES

There are NO ENTRY FEES for the Write On Features, Featured Author Contest for 2022. However, all entrants must be paid subscribers to writeonfeatures.com for submission consideration (click here to sign up now).

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR WORK TO THE WRITE ON FEATURES, FEARURED AUTHOR CONTEST

Entrants to the Featured Author Contest may submit qualified manuscripts by:

• Emailing the Editorial department at Write On Press at: Editorial@writeonpress.com.

• Enter: Featured Author Contest in the subject line.

• Attach your manuscript to the email as a MS Word .doc or .docx file.

Entrants to the Featured Author Contest may submit qualified manuscripts by:

• Completing the Featured Author Submission Form and pasting your manuscript into the message text box in the form.

• Press the 'Submit' button to submit your manuscript.

DEADLINE(S)

The Featured Author Contest will begin accepting submissions on March 1, 2022 and will stop accepting submissions on November 25, 2022.

​

The first Featured Author will be awarded and their manuscript, photo, bio, and author links will be published and distributed on the writeonfeatures.com site on April 1, 2022 and be featured for the entire calendar month. The final Featured Author will be awarded and published to the writeonfeatures.com site on December 1, 2022.

​

The following is a complete submission and award schedule for the Featured Author Contest:

​

1. Submit between March 1 - March 25, Winner is published from April 1 - April 30,

2. Submit between April 1 - April 25, Winner is published from May 1 - May 31,

3. Submit between May 1 - May 25, Winner is published from June1 - June 30,

4. Submit between June1 - June 25, Winner is published from July 1 - July 31,

5. Submit between July 1 - July 25, Winner is published from August 1 - August 31,

6. Submit between August 1 - August 25, Winner is published from September 1 - September 30,

7. Submit between September 1 - September 25, Winner is published from October 1 - October 31,

8. Submit between October 1 - October 25, Winner is published from November 1 - November 30,

9. Submit between November 1 - November 25, Winner is published from December 1 - December 31,

10. On January 1, 2023, one of the nine Featured Author Contest winners will be selected and awarded a seat in the Write On Writer's professional development program for the 2023 program year.

Any submissions received after the 25th day of each month (March - October, 2022) will be judged in the next month's competition. Any submission received after November 25, 2022 will be considered ineligible for the contest.

JUDGING

All qualified submissions will be evaluated by Write On Press Editorial staff. Successful submissions will excel in three areas of evaluation:

​

1. Writing style and mechanics (how well you communicate a theme, storyline or plot; and how close to 'press ready' your submission is),

2. Literary deliverables (how well you manage characterization, conflict, climax, conclusion/resolution), and

3. Marketability (how audiences might receive your work, the commercial appeal, and the level of potential emotional connection between your target reader and the literary deliverables).

Decisions rendered by Editorial regarding any individual submission will be considered final. Submissions will be coded and will be reviewed by Editorial staff without any identifying or contact information attached.

AWARDS

In keeping with the mission of Write On Press, the Write On Features, Featured Author Contest seeks to help new and aspiring professional writers and independent authors to develop their skills, build new audiences and increase their level of professionalism within the literary marketplace. Through the Featured Author Contest, writers have multiple opportunities to test and develop their skills in the effort to attain a spotlight position on a global platform hosted by a legitimate publishing and entertainment distribution company. Beyond the awards, writers will be able to evaluate their submissions against winners of successive month's competitions to grow and develop their skills in a way that isn't possible as an individual writer. Okay, let's talk about what you can win.

The featured author spotlight: successful writers will be featured in the Featured Author panel on the Writeonfeatures.com homepage (free global marketing). The panel will feature the author's name/or pen name, the name of their manuscript, their photo (if submitted), up to 3 URL's/links to author site(s) sales pages, and/or social media accounts; and the cover art (provided by Write On Features) for their manuscript. This panel will link directly to the manuscript description page that will host additional info for the story and the author, including an author's bio (if submitted; up to 200 words). The author's manuscript will be available for the entirety of the month following selection.

Authors are not prohibited from winning the Featured Author Award more than once. Authors are also not prohibited from submitting multiple qualified submissions for any one (or more) of the nine Featured Author Award months. So, feel free to submit as many works as often as you like.

A chance to be accepted into the Write On Writer's program: At the conclusion of the Featured Author Contest, one of the previous nine (9) Featured Authors will be offered a seat in the Write On Writer's program. This is an exclusive, paid professional development program for new and aspiring writers. In the event that the selected Featured Author refuses the seat, an alternate will be selected from the remaining eight Featured Authors.

COPYRIGHTS

All participants agree through their participation in the Featured Author Contest that, in order to publish and digitally distribute the work of Featured Authors, Write On e-Publishing, LLC, its subsidiary brands, platforms, websites and partner distribution channels will be granted the exclusive copy and distribution rights to any manuscripts, material, work or stories; characters, themes, images et. al. associated with any qualified submissions selected for the Featured Author Award.

It is further agreed that any associated materials submitted for use in the support or marketing of the Featured Author or their work (i.e.: bio, URLs, author photos, and etc.) will also be considered included in this limited copyright agreement. 

​

This exclusive copyright will extend throughout the length of the contest award period (December 31, 2022) and continue through the entirety of the 2023 calendar year. At the conclusion of this limited copyright (December 31, 2023) all rights to work produced by the Featured Author will return to the original creator of the work. This may exclude any material, art, images, copy, or any other material created by Write On e-Publishing, LLC during the duration of the limited copyright.
